Kujirazaki Coastal Trail

Trail

Whether because of its whale-like shape or the legends associated with whales, Osatsu is home to a peninsula known as Kujirazaki. According to local folklore, the Bodhisattva Kannon is said to have arrived riding on the back of a whale, and the statue of Kannon is now enshrined at Aomine-san Shofukuji Temple, revered by seafarers. The Kujirazaki walking trail is covered by a forest of ubame oak, and glimpses of the sea can be seen through the trees. When ama fishing is underway, visitors can see ama divers at work from the tip of the peninsula.
