Mikimoto Pearl Island

This island is where Kokichi Mikimoto, founder of the MIKIMOTO brand, became the first person in the world to successfully cultivate pearls. At the Pearl Museum, visitors can see antique jewelry made with natural pearls and learn how pearls are formed, while the Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall introduces his life and achievements. At the Ama Stand facing the sea, daily demonstrations of ama diving are held, offering insight into how ama divers helped with early cultured pearl production.
