Ama Hut Hachiman Kamado

Ama Hut, Seafood BBQ, Lunch

Located in Osatsu, Ama Hut "Hachiman Kamado" is where you can taste the salt in the air, being next to the sea while feasting on delicious fresh seafood harvested by the ama-divers (traditional female free-divers). A feast consisting of oysters, turban shells, and seasonal catches that are grilled to perfection over an open hearth by the Amas.
As you eat, the Ama divers will share with you about their 3000-year-old heritage of free-diving and introduce you to the uniform and tools they use, and perhaps how to stay so fit and young! You might even get invited to a fun folk dance called Osatsu ondo. Dressing up in traditional Ama wear is also available for visitors. Not to mention, shuttle buses are also available from Toba station
