Ura Shrine

Shrine

Ura Shrine is home to a revered natural spring that, according to local legend, possesses healing properties for eye ailments. The shrine enshrines Azumiwake-no-Mikoto, a guardian deity traditionally worshipped by local women for health and the successful nursing of children. While it remains a modest and tranquil site, the shrine is a focal point for village festivals and serves as a place of prayer for the safety of those working in the surrounding bay. Its elevated position provides a subtle connection between the forested mountains and the sea, reflecting the natural balance that makes Uramura’s waters so productive.
